[15:15:58] <slug_> mozzwald: I posted a new version... it's suppose to update the icons automatically when overlay is mounted/unmounted but its not working, the overlay files are still showing up in the directory listings
[15:16:50] <slug_> my overlay is on usb drive though, and the unmount is not working in general, let me know if it works ok with overlay image on an SD card
[15:18:12] <slug_> htpdate replaces ntpd too, so no more need to open the firewall
[15:19:18] <slug_> http://engine12.com/files/gmenu-zipit/gmenu_jffs2_rc8.tar.bz2
[15:20:41] <mozzwald> hmm.. ok. I know that the mount and unmount scripts need some changes/more checks. if you try to uovmount when in the overlay dir or sd card/usb mount point it will not unmount properly.
[15:21:03] <mozzwald> or if you are running something that stored in the overlay
[15:22:10] <mozzwald> are your changes only in gmenu2x? or some other scripts too?
[15:23:23] <slug_> yeah I can't even unmount the usb drive, it says it's busy. So the next reboot I need to run the disk check routine before it mounts the overlay again, works great once it's mounted
[15:24:05] <mozzwald> is there a way to check what programs are running from/accessing a mount point?
[15:24:29] <slug_> mozzwald: the htpdate package required a new init.d script and an updated line to wpa-connect to restart it
[15:25:13] <mozzwald> ok. I'll probably try to pull your changes into my current jffs instead of starting from scratch again. :)
[15:28:16] <slug_> I notice in ubuntu that I cannot unmount a drive if I have a shell that is cd'd into the drive. I have to cd out before I can unmount.
[15:28:45] <mozzwald> yep. same in openwrt too
[15:33:39] <mozzwald> i'm working on setting up an openwrt package repo. i've had problems with some packages from projectgus' repo but the ones built locally work. might be something to do with the nightly build system.
[15:34:57] <mozzwald> i pulled all the qi-packages into my openwrt-zipit-packages feed. currenlty building all packages now
[15:36:01] <slug_> that'll probably take awhile
[15:36:25] <mozzwald> yeah. been running a few hours already
[15:37:31] <mozzwald> but, when its done i'll only need to clean the packages that are changed
[15:38:50] <slug_> how much space did you estimate it will take on the HD
[15:40:20] <mozzwald> i have no clue :) but i have a 750g free on the 1t drive so it should be plenty
[15:41:23] <slug_> mozzwald: http://engine12.com/files/gmenu-zipit/gmenu2x_20120209-1_pxa.ipk
[15:47:53] <mozzwald> did you make a package for htpdate or just compile the binary?
[15:49:58] <slug_> just a binary so far, but a package would be nice
[15:50:54] *** deeize has joined #zipit
[15:51:46] <mozzwald> k. I can add it to my feed. do you have sources or link to them?
[15:53:21] <deeize> Do you guys check with fuser before attempting an overlay unmount? eg. fuser -m -u /mnt/sd0
[15:55:49] <mozzwald> deeize: no, but that's what I was looking for
[15:56:16] *** slug_ has quit IRC
[15:59:43] <mozzwald> it's not in slug's busybox :(
[16:00:10] <deeize> that makes it a bit harder to use...

[16:01:27] <mozzwald> aye
[16:01:30] <slug_> mozzwald: http://engine12.com/files/htpdate-zipit.tar.gz -- use the init script labeled openwrt, the servers should be listed in /etc/config/system
[16:02:13] <deeize> What's it mean when freenode says my usual nick is registered? Does that mean it's gone forever?
[16:03:10] <mozzwald> someone is using it with nickserv
[16:03:20] <mozzwald> did you register it?
[16:03:44] <slug_> I had that happen to me about a year ago, had to switch from slug to slug_, but then i registered
[16:04:01] <deeize> I didn't register it. That seemed like extra work. I guess the spammers got it now?
[16:04:44] <mozzwald> quite possible
[16:05:39] <mozzwald> maybe you can petition freenode for it back.. but that seems like a lot of work
[16:05:40] *** baconingot has joined #zipit
[16:06:11] <deeize> yeah, that's the sorta extra work that I was trying to avoid.
[16:08:57] <mozzwald> just stick with deeize? and register it :)
[16:10:31] <mozzwald> slug_: can you recompile busybox with fuser?
[16:11:32] <slug_> yep, I'm uploading ver9 now :)
[16:12:08] <mozzwald> hehe
[16:15:46] <slug_> http://engine12.com/files/busybox_1.19.3-9_pxa.ipk and/or http://engine12.com/files/gmenu-zipit/gmenu_jffs2_rc9.tar.bz2

[16:37:16] <mozzwald> hmm.. can't unmount the /usr overlay dir because the eject script is running from /usr
[16:38:19] <slug_> copy it to /tmp ?
[16:44:29] <mozzwald> ok. that works, but would have to be done at startup everytime I guess
[16:46:25] <slug_> how about the eject script does the copy, and removes the script when done
[16:47:13] <slug_> break it up, only uovmount needs to be copied right?
[16:49:53] <mozzwald> not sure if that'd work. the eject script would still be the parent process running from /usr
[16:52:41] <mozzwald> eject calls uovmount which only unmounts overlays, then eject tries to unmount sd card

[17:11:03] <slug_> right on, so the link is to cp eh?
[17:12:52] <mozzwald> yeah, then params are added to it
[17:23:08] <slug_> I'll have to test it in a bit, dog needs a walk
[17:28:18] <mozzwald> it still doesnt fix the problem if you in the dir

[20:18:18] <projectgus> mozzwald: I had to mess with it a bit, you might have to "make oldconfig" after you set CONFIG_ALL, or possibly start from scratch or something
[20:18:28] <projectgus> mozzwald: I don't remember, but I do remember it being fiddly
[20:18:36] <projectgus> are you setting up a build machine? can I help at all?
[20:18:50] <projectgus> the box that runs the openwrt nightly builds has 8 cores and 64gb of ram, and doesn't get used at all overnight
[20:19:06] <projectgus> (at the moment)

[20:37:06] <mozzwald> projectgus: I did some more googling and found out how. had to remove all feeds then add feed with all packages enabled.
[20:38:47] <mozzwald> I've had some issues with some packages from your repo so I thought I would create my own. been running about 8 hours now on my dual core :)
[20:39:32] <mozzwald> but, once the packages are built all I need to do is clean/compile the packages I make changes to
[20:43:06] *** Wil5on has joined #zipit
[21:13:38] <slug_> mozzwald: I put an echo host >...usbmode in init.d/boot but it still didn't automount, do you know what needs to be in place for that to work?
[21:21:44] *** JMichaelX has joined #zipit
[21:23:57] <mozzwald> hmm.. I thought block-mount package was supposed to take care of it.
[21:24:10] <mozzwald> does the device show in /dev ?
[21:27:08] *** JMichaelX has left #zipit
[21:28:17] <mozzwald> slug_: almost done with updated uovmount/eject. uses fuser to check if anything's using overlayfs, asks to kill processes or not
[21:32:22] <slug_> mozzwald: nice, I seem to be getting clean unmounts now too with usb, the dev nodes are there yes
[21:40:16] <projectgus> mozzwald: which packages have issues?
[21:46:08] <mozzwald> projectgus: supertux and e2fsprogs
[21:47:05] <mozzwald> slug_: but you can manually mount the device?
[21:47:43] *** wej has quit IRC
[21:52:31] *** wej has joined #zipit
[21:55:00] <slug_> yeah I can mount manually np
[21:56:47] <mozzwald> I'm not sure then. I can try something usb and see what happens here.
[22:00:29] <slug_> it automounts sometimes, after waking from suspend I can usually get it to work, but what do I need to have the ovmount script fire too?
[22:03:00] <mozzwald> did you also use the modified hotplug script? that is supposed to automount the overlay if detected
[22:03:00] *** deeice has left #zipit
[22:03:26] <mozzwald> but if you drive isn't even being mounted then something else is awry
[22:03:34] <mozzwald> you/your
[22:09:34] <slug_> hotplug script is there, does it look for only mmc nodes, I noticed the unmount scripts only looks for /mnt/mmc*
[22:14:42] <mozzwald> hotplug script checks for the device (ie sda1 or mmcblk0p1) in /etc/ovpkg.conf so it should work regardless of mount type. I should fix eject to do the same
[22:16:55] <slug_> yeah, I noticed that I can have multiple entries in ovpkg.conf too
[22:23:41] <mozzwald> doesn't appear that usb devices are automounted here either
[22:24:05] <mozzwald> device node is created, but not mounted
[22:25:34] <mozzwald> maybe it's because of /etc/config/fstab having /dev/sda1 disabled
[22:28:05] <mozzwald> slug_: yep. remove the config mount section with /dev/sda1 in it and the drive should automount
[22:31:00] <mozzwald> so, should eject only unmount the device/mount point listed in /etc/ovpkg? or unmount everything in /mnt?
[22:34:49] <slug_> great, nice find, I think unmount all is the way to go
[22:35:44] <mozzwald> k
[22:44:15] <mozzwald> slug_: do you know how to get home/end keys to work in nano on zipit?
[23:05:37] <slug_> mozzwald: no, I don't, they never worked?
[23:08:05] <mozzwald> in debian I think one of them worked, but neither in openwrt. not even thru ssh
[23:09:14] <slug_> what are they suppose to do? there's ctrl+A and ctrl+E
[23:18:29] <slug_> press and release esc then press alt+x will get you to then end of the file, press and release esc then alt+shft+x gets you to the beginning
[23:18:57] <mozzwald> home and end are mapped to prev/next but pressing them give 'Unknown command'. same err via ssh too
[23:19:27] <mozzwald> home/end of the current line
[23:20:12] <slug_> I don't see those as registered hot keys in my nano help file
[23:20:44] <slug_> ctrl+A gets you to the start and ctrl+E the end of the line
[23:24:34] <mozzwald> hmm.. I guess I'll just hafta use those then. thx
