[00:00:54] <mozzwald> you design the board and I'll solder it ;)
[00:02:32] *** bryan_w has quit IRC
[00:03:39] <ang> hehe
[00:04:14] <ang> been a loooooong time sinc ei took any digital design or EE courses. i don't remember much of it to design anything :)
[00:05:06] <mozzwald> wouldn't be as hard if there were eagle parts for everything
[00:05:46] <ang> by the way, i'm using the 2.6.36-rc2+ kernel from your site ... the cpu is only running at 207mhz. did put something in the .config to downclock it intentionally?
[00:08:27] <mozzwald> check that /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor is userspace and you can echo speed to .../scaling_setspeed
[00:10:34] <ang> i bought one of those msp430s from TI some time back as well b/c I had some delusions that I'd actually do something with it. never did. same as with the zipit :)
[00:10:40] <mozzwald> or try this script https://raw.github.com/mozzwald/openwrt-zipit/65658d5342993422fb38c5cdc8685db196582081/target/linux/pxa/zipitz2/base-files/usr/sbin/cpu
[00:10:53] <ang> one of the reasons i haven't bought a r-pi. it'd collect dust
[00:11:03] <ang> cool, yeah, I saw that
[00:11:15] <mozzwald> zipit is mostly software mods anyways
[00:11:30] <mozzwald> and raspi will probably be a lot of both
[00:12:01] <mozzwald> only major zipit hardware is usb or serial mod
[00:14:37] <ang> heh, setting it to 312mhz seems to have locked it up :)
[00:14:47] <ang> i'm not having much luck lately :)
[00:14:52] <mozzwald> hm
[00:15:06] <ang> tho i set it to 416 the other day and it was fine
[00:20:02] <ang> tried again and seems ok now
[00:20:37] <ang> i didn't have much luck with any of the 3.0.0 kernels on your site, but it must just be a conflict with z2sid as the recoveryos works fine and i think that's 3.0.0
[00:20:58] <ang> and i used the latest openwrt snapshot which i think it 3.2.0 as well and that worked
[00:21:24] *** deeice has quit IRC
[00:27:29] <mozzwald> strange. I know I tested 3.0 from nov 2011. and I think beaglebreath is using it too
[00:28:27] <ang> the 3.0.0 boot, but when i go to log in, it always says my passwd is wrong
[00:28:56] <ang> then when i try to log in again and try to type "ang", it comes out as ^[a^[n^[g
[00:29:28] <mozzwald> thats odd
[00:36:46] <ang> yup
[00:36:57] <ang> it's the story of my life. I run in to the weirdest stuff :)

[08:12:43] <munchausen> mozzwald?
[08:12:49] <munchausen> I want to update to the newest uboot
[08:13:04] <munchausen> But I already have uboot and dont have a serial cable
[08:13:19] <munchausen> I presume I can just dd it from linux?
[08:14:03] <munchausen> but am keen not to brick it
[08:22:59] <munchausen> guess I'll just use my spare for now actually :)

[11:06:08] <mozzwald> munchausen: you dont have latest uboot?
[11:07:25] <mozzwald> you can either use a flash script or dd is manually.
[11:08:16] <mozzwald> but if you dd yourself make sure mtdblocks are correct size and type.

[19:39:35] <slug_> munchausen: including enterprise access requires SSL if iirc and that ends being quite large, so it didn't make the cut for the jffs2. You can try to opkg wpa_supplicant

[21:15:37] <deeice> slug_: I finally got your gmenu-wrt-jffs running on one of my zipits. My wrt-rescue is a lost cause and won't talk to *any* of my sd cards, so I used my pre-wrt rescue zipit instead. That one runs off an initramfs so I had to add a root=mtd* setting in uboot before it would boot. Otherwise kernel panic. Might want to note that in the install notes.
[21:19:31] <slug_> deeice: it booted from the SD card Ok, but you needed to change uboot vars to boot from the onboard flash ?
[21:19:41] <deeice> On another note, I've tried 3 different zipits on uboot. The first one talked to *some* sd cards. The 2nd one likes just about all the sd cards I've got. And the 3rd one hates all sd cards in uboot. Weird. Seems like an uninitialized gpio or something
[21:20:25] <deeice> Once I got the gmenu into the jffs it wouldn't boot from the jffs until I added a root setting.
[21:20:57] <deeice> The old rescue jffs didn't have a root setting in the bootargs because it wasn't using jffs.
[21:21:20] <deeice> err, the old rescue kernel/initramfs
[21:21:30] <slug_> yeah I ran into that one too, my settings were looking for a rootfs=squashfs or something like that
[21:22:04] <deeice> it all looked sooo easy in your instructions;-)
[21:22:33] <slug_> yeah I keep it brief :
[21:24:40] <deeice> Does it have an irc client and/or an emacs?
[21:26:29] <slug_> theres nano, but not irc
[21:26:58] <projectgus> deeice: 'opkg install zile' will you give you a lightweight emacs-a-like
[21:27:30] <deeice> Oh, cool. I wanna try out the nano syntax highlighting. e3 is much smaller than zile.
[21:27:32] <projectgus> assuming there's some free space to install it into :)
[21:27:48] <projectgus> ditto irssi, but I think it might have bigger dependencies
[21:27:53] <projectgus> (hope that's relevant)
[21:28:21] <deeice> irssi is way too big. tinyirc is about 20k or so.
[21:29:01] <projectgus> deeice: .... and you wanted emacs!?!? ;)
[21:29:23] *** bryan_w has quit IRC
[21:29:46] *** bryan_w has joined #zipit
[21:29:57] <deeice> well, not the real thing, obviously, but something that uses the same keys for the important stuff.
[21:30:28] <projectgus> :)
[21:30:35] <projectgus> I'd never e3editor before, looks interesting
[21:30:40] <deeice> nano, is actually close enough, and syntax highlighting is nice.
[21:31:16] <deeice> e3 is assembler, so it's super small.
[21:31:19] <projectgus> I think mc is a bit closer to full emacs (although it's 200k-ish). I've never used it though.
[21:31:34] <projectgus> so x86-only?
[21:31:42] <deeice> mc, or mg?
[21:32:01] <projectgus> derp, mg
[21:32:05] <deeice> e3 has arm assembler too.
[21:32:24] <projectgus> oh, mg package is actually smaller than zile (still bigger than nano.)
[21:32:27] <deeice> but not the most recent version, so the utf8 is a bit shaky.
[21:32:30] <projectgus> neat! :)
[21:36:40] <slug_> deeice: for some reason the syntax maps that come with nano would throw errors when nano loaded, I fixed the .js template but the others need work so there not in there
[21:37:39] <slug_> there was some difference with the regex defs
[21:38:14] <deeice> ohh. I really wanted some bash syntax
[21:39:05] <slug_> it just needs a little work over, i havent gotten around to fixing it yet
[21:40:38] <deeice> oh well.

[22:20:25] *** fiftyonefifty has quit IRC
[22:20:51] *** fiftyonefifty has joined #zipit
[22:21:01] <deeice> Shouldn't the squashfs go on the jffs?
[22:21:32] <deeice> otherwise you'd need another partition, I think.
[22:22:33] <deeice> dronz: Apparently I missed RFC 3986 way back in 2005 which says URLs are now utf8. Who knew? Anyhow I patched pspmaps to convert latin1 names to utf8 when it makes the URL. Seems to work: http://www.datafilehost.com/download-41088cb2.html
[22:23:36] <deeice> At least it seemed to give me driving directions from paris to m^con.
[22:40:20] <slug_> this pretty much sums it up, I'm back to being 120% certain that the squashfs/jffs2 is currently in place when building the jffs2 image -->http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/techref/filesystems
