[13:35:02] *** g1powermac_PB has quit IRC
[13:35:49] <steerpike> anything new?
[13:36:29] <unrest> not regarding the z2
[13:36:34] <steerpike> ah
[13:36:54] <unrest> btw: do you code in c/c++ or do linux-stuff?
[13:37:24] <unrest> i'm looking for some new computer-book (as my girlfriend calls them), but i got no clue whiche one..
[13:37:30] <steerpike> i know c++, i'm learning c
[13:37:37] <steerpike> oh
[13:37:42] <steerpike> deitel is good
[13:38:12] <unrest> "deitel"?
[13:38:57] <unrest> ah
[13:38:59] <unrest> i see
[13:39:02] <unrest> well..
[13:39:37] <unrest> i don't feel like learning a new language... ^^
[13:42:26] <steerpike> yeah, have to be in the right mood :\
[13:42:52] <unrest> well.. i learned coldfusion and vba in the last 3 months..
[13:43:20] <steerpike> can't really put that to use on linux now can we?
[13:43:39] <unrest> coldfusion if i installed a server, vba not
[13:44:07] <steerpike> i think nsa still uses coldfusion
[13:44:30] <unrest> i somehow like it, although it's partially weird
[13:44:31] <steerpike> well, the last time i checked was many years
[13:45:00] <unrest> like a global scope for every variable or no <cfoutput> inside a <cfoutput>, etc...
[13:45:42] <steerpike> yuck.. Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
[13:45:56] <unrest> where?
[13:45:59] <unrest> nsa.gov?
[13:46:01] <steerpike> yeah
[13:46:06] <unrest> *g*
[13:46:24] <steerpike> .cfm :D
[13:46:31] <steerpike> that's coldfusion, isn't it?
[13:46:52] <unrest> yep
[13:46:54] <steerpike> ^_^

[19:47:59] *** chocotaco has joined #zipit
[19:48:29] <chocotaco> So I've compiled a bunch of libs with scratchbox and linked them statically into a program I compiled (directvnc)
[19:48:33] <chocotaco> what's the trick to running the binary on the Z2?
[19:48:48] <chocotaco> I've got the shell up but when cd to /mnt/sd0 and try to execute ./directvnc it says "not found"
[19:48:50] <chocotaco> even though the binary is most certainly there
[19:52:32] <chocotaco> ah, I think this forum post might have a clue: http://linux.zipitwireless.com/discussion/3/12
[19:52:34] <chocotaco> i'll try compiling that way
[20:09:06] *** unrest has quit IRC
[20:13:59] <steerpike> i only use buildroot :\
[21:37:46] *** g1powermac_PB has quit IRC
[22:17:56] *** rkdavis1 has joined #zipit
[22:27:18] *** steerpik1 has joined #zipit
[22:33:21] <rkdavis1> hi sp
[22:38:51] <steerpik1> hey :)
[22:39:38] *** steerpike has quit IRC
[22:39:48] <rkdavis1> starting to look out the window for the fedex truck -- should be here anytime after another 12 hours :)
[22:39:57] <steerpik1> cool :)
[22:41:51] <rkdavis1> i had to downgrade my router though today
[22:41:51] <steerpik1> last shipment i received from fedex i got at like 7 in the evening
[22:41:55] <steerpik1> why's that?
[22:42:03] <rkdavis1> looks like the wifi on the wrt is fubar
[22:42:07] <steerpik1> :\
[22:42:12] <rkdavis1> i've been having horrible time with interference and gropping connections and taking time to get an ssid
[22:42:27] <rkdavis1> swapped in my old belkin 802.11b one and wifi has been great although only b speeds
[22:42:41] <rkdavis1> the wired bit seems fine so i think the radio has gone weird on it
[22:43:00] <rkdavis1> but the wife has been getting so pissed at the wifi in the last few weeks she didn't blink when i mentioned the need for a new one
[22:43:11] <steerpik1> heh
[22:43:13] <steerpik1> asus :D
[22:43:23] <rkdavis1> so her next paycheque after christmas i'll be hitting the router sales maybe if i am lucky i'll find a wrt54gl for a reasonable price
[22:43:43] <steerpik1> you can get the wrtp54g i got
[22:43:47] <steerpik1> only $35!
[22:44:13] <rkdavis1> what firmware?
[22:44:25] <rkdavis1> actually i think i might go the whole hog and get a N router
[22:44:31] <rkdavis1> get a better pcmcia card for the wife's lappy
[22:44:41] <rkdavis1> and see about swapping out the mini-pci in this one
[22:44:42] <steerpik1> http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=wrtp54g-st&_sacat=0&_fromfsb=&_trksid=m270.l1313&_odkw=wrtp54gv2&_osacat=0
[22:44:54] <steerpik1> you can help me figure out how to work out the voip ^_^
[22:48:02] <steerpik1> and the range is pretty good
[22:48:29] <rkdavis1> what time will you be around tomorrow at a place where you can get to your router/ata?
[22:48:43] <rkdavis1> you said you are in NYS so timezones are the same
[22:48:45] <steerpik1> hmm.. after 11am
[22:48:53] <rkdavis1> ok that's good as wife will be at jury duty and kid in class
[22:49:10] <steerpik1> cool :)
[22:49:22] <steerpik1> i served jury duty last year ^_^
[22:49:24] <rkdavis1> and not only will she not see me lazing on the computer she won't see me eating porrige made with heavy cream instead of water or milk
[22:49:34] <steerpik1> hehe
[22:49:41] <rkdavis1> she'll only have to turn up for one day as they normal kick those who know the law out asap
[22:51:03] <rkdavis1> she works in the courts so they call her about every other year but then kick her to the curb as soon as they remember she knows the law
[22:51:03] <steerpik1> hehe
[22:51:22] <rkdavis1> she's been called every even year since 1998
[22:51:39] <steerpik1> i thought they're not supposed to call you after 8yrs or something?
[22:51:50] <rkdavis1> no they try not to call you more than once every other year
[22:51:51] <steerpik1> even if you don't get picked
[22:51:52] <steerpik1> weird
[22:52:09] <steerpik1> i had to go two days
[22:52:14] <rkdavis1> it's if you turn up you get put on the list that says you'll turn up so they call yu
[22:52:20] <steerpik1> maybe it's different from borough to borough
[22:52:31] <rkdavis1> if you don't turn up then you get put on the will not turn up list so they don't call you
[22:52:43] <rkdavis1> it also depends if it's state or federal too
[22:52:55] <rkdavis1> we are in kings
[22:53:35] <rkdavis1> they even called me once although i am not eligible to serve :)
[22:53:42] <rkdavis1> the advantage of being a fur'ner
[22:54:04] <steerpik1> hehe
[22:54:14] <steerpik1> tsk, i should make a habit of labeling my cd's
[22:54:20] <rkdavis1> why break the habit of a life time
[22:54:26] <steerpik1> heh
[22:54:29] <rkdavis1> i never labeled floppies now i never label cd's
[22:54:37] <rkdavis1> i have to go though 500 or 600 just to find the movie or tv i am looking for
[22:54:44] <steerpik1> lol
[22:54:45] <rkdavis1> it's my security system
[22:54:52] <rkdavis1> if i can't find it how the hell can the feds
[22:57:03] <steerpik1> i look at how much has been written to the cd to differentiate between which one is a movie and which one is just data
[22:57:11] <rkdavis1> ah the same thing i do
[22:57:15] <rkdavis1> oh that is about half shiney
[22:57:17] <rkdavis1> and half dark
[22:57:19] <steerpik1> yeah hehe
[22:57:20] <rkdavis1> must be a small linux distro
[22:57:24] <steerpik1> lol
[22:57:35] <rkdavis1> i've started putting the smaller linux distros on flash drives
[22:57:50] <rkdavis1> got sysresccd, backtrack and another couple on 1gig drives
[22:58:11] <rkdavis1> makes them easier to lose
[22:59:03] <steerpik1> i don't get around much nowadays so i stopped using live cd/usb's :\
[22:59:52] <rkdavis1> i don't other than fixing a few peoples computers in the area or when we go upstate to visit relatives
[23:01:49] <rkdavis1> but i like to play with flash drives and see what the various controller chips can do
[23:02:21] <steerpik1> i recently got this... http://www.amazon.com/KingMax-Microsoft-Certified-Drive-Washer/dp/B001AMI91E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1
[23:02:23] <steerpik1> it's really tiny
[23:02:45] <steerpik1> i encrypted the entire thing with truecrypt
[23:02:55] <rkdavis1> oooo cute
[23:02:58] <rkdavis1> mompls nature calls
[23:03:42] <steerpik1> ok
[23:04:48] <rkdavis1> back
[23:06:37] <steerpik1> wb
[23:06:45] <steerpik1> i'm thinking about doing something like this.. http://www.spyroforum.com/post-114692.html
[23:08:52] <rkdavis1> :)
[23:12:58] <rkdavis1> although not easy to put half a wall in your pocket when you want to take it to a friends computer
[23:13:01] <rkdavis1> :)
