[12:59:00] <echelon> GPSFan: hey
[12:59:38] <GPSFan> echelon: howdy, I did look at my iwconfig stuff and you are correct there is no signal quality reported. What I did for wavemon is just display the signal and noise levels.
[13:05:58] <GPSFan> the symlink from iwlist to iwconfig is because iwconfig is built as a multi-call binary, IIRC there is an option tobuild individual programs instead.
[13:07:51] <echelon> yeah, i figured that last part out :)
[13:07:56] <echelon> thanks
[13:08:15] <echelon> have you tried to build tinyx?
[13:08:38] <echelon> do you think the signal level thing is a driver issue?
[13:08:42] <echelon> because i had the same problem on OE
[13:26:25] <GPSFan> echelon: I don't know about the quality, but I would assume it's in the driver. since there is no open source GSPI version as yet. I built the "real old tiny-x" for arm once a few years ago, for a Graphics Client Plus (SA1100) it worked, but the SA1100 wouldn't support tft panels at 800 x 600 at more than 1-2fps. but it did work. IIRC there were mouse issues galore.
[13:27:38] <echelon> just need a wm that doesn't need a mouse :)
[13:27:56] <echelon> i asked since i'm using buildroot now.. oe is broken
[13:28:02] <echelon> and buildroot doesn't have kdrive
[13:29:03] <GPSFan> it took me a long time to get the buildroot I was using at the time to build tinyx. I don't know whether a current version would build it or not.
[13:29:57] <GPSFan> someone had a simple sdl demo that ran on the z2, I would like to see if more work could be done in that direction. Android uses sdl instead of X and has been run successfully on a PXA270 (with more memory than a Z2)
[13:35:33] <echelon> cool
[13:36:27] <echelon> they used scratchbox for that iirc

[15:38:08] <echelon> wouldn't sdl use up battery faster?
[15:49:47] <GPSFan> echelon: than X? ith hardware is the same in either case, as for how cpu intensive sdl is vs X I've no clue.
[15:49:56] <GPSFan> s/ith/the
