[00:00:30] <echelon> for this room
[00:05:00] <switchcat> I've been away for a little over a week so I missed a lot. :)
[00:08:48] <Foxx> my dev' laptop isnt up to par
[00:08:56] <Foxx> and ive been busy with other crap
[00:09:29] <Foxx> hows lube echelon?
[00:09:33] <Foxx> life*
[00:09:58] <switchcat> how's lube? sounds like a fun life. :P
[00:10:08] <Foxx> lol
[00:12:59] <Foxx> so any more progress on the z2?
[00:13:39] <Foxx> last ii tried to bitbake a kernel from source the svn had som eissues
[00:13:43] <Foxx> some issues*
[00:15:42] <Foxx> either one of you have any experience on the Z1?
[00:17:25] <switchcat> not I.
[00:18:12] <Foxx> :{
[00:18:37] <switchcat> I was contomplating getting one since they're acquirable for approximately $10, but my experience so far with connecting on the z2 is not that good, so I'm not that hopeful for the z1
[00:19:54] <echelon> life.. ? stagnant ^_^
[00:19:57] <echelon> but not complaining
[00:19:09] <Foxx> well, the Z1 has a lot of promise if you have the soldering skill
[00:19:24] <Foxx> but you need to be a guru at squeezing resources from things
[00:19:38] <Foxx> im going to use mine as a screen and keyboard terminal for other things
[00:19:41] <Foxx> like hacked routers
[00:19:48] <Foxx> or headless embedded devices
[00:21:11] <eibmoz_> There's a Z1 being used as a webserver here: http://va3uxb.dynip.com/
[00:21:19] <eibmoz_> I thought that was pretty cool
[00:21:47] <Foxx> if you are familliar with OpenWRT for routers, you can add alots of nifty packages ot it
[00:22:04] <Foxx> i can turn a mini router into a mobile penetration kit
[00:22:09] <Foxx> wifi repeater
[00:22:24] <Foxx> hell, i can even tuen it into a beefed up IRC client from hell
[00:22:37] <Foxx> high gain antenna, high wifi power
[00:22:47] <Foxx> it just needs a terminal of sorts
[00:23:15] <Foxx> i like radio stuff, when i go to local ham radio events, i bring my wifi gear and showcase some cool stuff
[00:23:43] <Foxx> the #1 commodity in ham radio though is power useage
[00:24:08] <Foxx> since most of it is supposed to be run from battery in an emergency, a laptop is more than what you need
[00:24:35] <Foxx> hell, i ran a radio BBS controller with my TI-83 as the keyboard/display
[00:24:58] <eibmoz_> :o
[00:28:16] <eibmoz_> I ran into the Z2 at bestbuy.com, looking for a programmable handheld w/Wifi
[00:29:11] <eibmoz_> I have a *cough* TI-82, and I've been writing little games and stuff using TI-BASIC
[00:29:54] <eibmoz_> but at 6MHz, it kinda hurts in gfx mode
[00:29:55] <eibmoz_> I was going to buy a new calculator when I ran into that wall, but I thought it'd be silly to buy one only to program it
[00:32:15] <eibmoz_> the TI-82 is as old as I am. >_<
[00:34:33] <switchcat> yeah bestbuy is a good advertisement for the zipit, that's where I first found out about it myself
[00:34:55] <Foxx> i knew about the Z2 well before it released
[00:33:53] <Foxx> in fact, im the one that did the preview video on youtube
[00:34:02] * Foxx does the shify eyes
[00:34:46] <eibmoz_> really? I think I saw that
[00:35:42] <eibmoz_> oh yes, I did
[00:36:48] <Foxx> yah, you have no idea how many times peopel ask me retarted quesitons that the Z2 website would answer
[00:46:28] *** SB-Zipit has joined #zipit
[00:52:46] <eibmoz_> that's pretty impressive :]
[00:53:00] <eibmoz_> I've never done any lockpicking
[01:04:17] <switchcat> they really need some GAMES on the ZipIt
[01:04:35] <Foxx> that would have ben cool
[01:04:52] <Foxx> would be nice if the d-pad was on the left though
[01:04:51] <Foxx> tetris clones, pac-man, etc, it should be possible
[01:08:53] <switchcat> yeah there are enough simple games available for linux, they should be simple enough to port. it would make a stock zipit a lot more fun when it can't connect to anything.
[01:09:34] <Foxx> didnt zipit announce something about possible downloadable games in the future?
[01:08:53] <Foxx> i was a little urked about their music streams
[01:08:58] <Foxx> their streams suck, and i cant make my own
[01:10:49] <Foxx> not that i dont know how to, they just dont have the option
[01:12:13] <Foxx> i was hoping to manipulate the server side confgirations using DNS spoofing, but everything is all SSL :/
[01:12:51] <switchcat> their streams are just typical streaming radio site
[01:12:54] <switchcat> s
[01:13:38] <Foxx> yah, i have my own shoutcast/icecast stream, but you cant manually confiure the server sources
[01:13:42] <switchcat> they're probably just offa live365 or something like that
[01:14:06] <Foxx> the quality was good though, i must say that
[01:14:17] <Foxx> quality of music on the other hand.... eh'
[01:20:30] <Foxx> any idea if ncurses will build for the Z2?
[01:58:06] <echelon> Foxx: it did for me
[01:58:44] <echelon> otherwise wavemon wouldn't have worked
[01:59:17] <echelon> also, to enable color for ncurses, you need to set $TERM to linux in /etc/profile
[01:59:29] <echelon> color for anything on the terminal rather
[01:59:37] <echelon> by default it's vt102
[02:00:14] <echelon> i was actually planning on writing a clone for the z2 stream player, but the audio hasn't even been worked out!
[02:02:29] <echelon> after all that stuff is out of the way, i'm going to work on getting youtube mobile setup on it
[02:03:48] <echelon> it'll require support for rtsp

[04:24:55] <mycroftxxx> Is there any way to get search on the linux.zipitwireless.com to not return an error searching the IRC logs? I get the feeling a lot of my questions may have answers there, but I cannot do more than browse by hand
[04:25:05] <mycroftxxx> Or, y'know, ask questions and check the logs later.
[04:44:11] <eibmoz_> I wasn't able to use the site's integrated search either
[04:44:19] <eibmoz_> however, google worked for me
[04:44:23] <eibmoz_> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:http://linux.zipitwireless.com/irclogs+>>TEST<<
[04:44:38] <eibmoz_> where >>TEST<< is your search term(s)
