[02:44:21] <unrest> hi
[03:22:50] <unrest> Foxx-, ping
[03:34:36] <Limp_Trizkit> i just slapped him on our network
[03:34:44] <Limp_Trizkit> he'll respond momentarily
[03:35:35] <Foxx-> oi
[03:35:45] * Limp_Trizkit dusts off a kitchen towel and slaps it at unrest
[03:36:20] <unrest> Limp_Trizkit, thanks =)
[03:36:24] <Limp_Trizkit> yup
[03:36:44] <unrest> Foxx-, how did you balance your solar dancer without a pcb for the pin to rest?
[03:37:18] <Foxx-> i used a thin piece of plastic salvaged from a plastic container
[03:37:53] <Foxx-> the containers for laundry detergent are nice and thick
[03:37:58] <unrest> and how did you get it into the circuit?
[03:38:08] <Foxx-> i soldered the components together
[03:38:19] <Foxx-> i did something like circuit oragami
[03:39:08] <Foxx-> you can also roll the plastic from soda bottles into tubes
[03:39:16] <Foxx-> slap together the circuit, and put it in the tube
[03:39:24] <Foxx-> then cap it off with hot melt glue
[03:39:28] <Foxx-> or putty epoxy
[03:39:52] <unrest> which sounds somehow best...
[03:40:33] <Foxx-> hot glue is ok for small stuff
[03:40:38] <Foxx-> and a tad easier to work with
[03:40:41] <Foxx-> to each his own
[03:40:42] <unrest> and then it really does balance on the pin?
[03:40:52] <Foxx-> if you set the pin properly, yrs
[03:40:56] <Foxx-> i used a paperclip
[03:41:09] <Foxx-> and i made it so i could bend it int he shape of a 7
[03:46:25] <unrest> thx =)
[03:46:50] <Foxx-> no prob
[03:46:55] <Foxx-> ive been a wee bit busy lately
[03:47:01] <Foxx-> so whats been going on?
[03:47:03] <Foxx-> any new progress on the Z2?
[03:47:13] <Foxx-> i got debian going to build a base-image
[03:47:18] <Foxx-> i think the current svn is busted
[03:47:23] <unrest> i began to hate it sort of ^^
[03:47:28] <Foxx-> eh?
[03:47:32] <unrest> well.. OE.
[03:47:45] <unrest> the software in there is..umm.. problematic for a ubuntuusers like me
[03:48:13] <Foxx-> dont bitch then
[03:48:17] <unrest> =)
[03:48:23] <Foxx-> its ubuntus fault for being the utter most un-standard linux distro ever designed
[03:48:56] <ATravelingGeek> It built fine for me on debian
[03:49:06] <Foxx-> well, i had build issues
[03:49:11] <Foxx-> but im an idiot
[03:49:15] <ATravelingGeek> What issues?
[03:49:20] <Foxx-> soooo.... possibly PEBKAC
[03:49:36] <Foxx-> the Z2 hangs on 'Gaining Root'
[03:50:55] <Foxx-> but i saw on the wiki that it was a common issue
[03:51:08] <Foxx-> i used an alternate image, and it built fine
[03:51:13] <Foxx-> but *shrugs*
[03:51:30] <Foxx-> i saw some chatter on IRC about the svn having an issue
[03:52:06] <ATravelingGeek> I guess I got lucky with my svn checkout then
[03:53:00] <Foxx-> i aw you went to HOPE, eh?
[03:53:02] <Foxx-> saw*
[03:53:05] <Foxx-> you mentioned it
[03:53:18] <ATravelingGeek> I did
[03:53:30] <Foxx-> i was gonna go, but it seemes like a media whore poser hax0r event
[03:53:38] <Foxx-> i saw the pannel list and tried not to dry heave
[03:53:48] <ATravelingGeek> Some of the talks were quite good
[03:53:48] <unrest> maybe PEBCAK, but _I_ bitbaked my baseimage on one evening including all the prerequisites.. ;)
[03:54:11] <ATravelingGeek> http://hopetracker.donthax.me has most of the common talks (2600 is ok with the distribution of them...)
[03:54:20] <Foxx-> im not a big fan of 2600
[03:54:28] <Foxx-> mostly media whores and skript kiddiez
[03:54:40] <ATravelingGeek> Yeah, there was some of that at HOPE, but overall I thought it was quite good
[03:54:50] <Foxx-> are you native to NYC?
[03:55:00] <ATravelingGeek> No
[03:55:28] <Foxx-> ahhh, thats why then
[03:55:31] <Foxx-> i live in NYC
[03:55:38] <Foxx-> i have to deal with poser bullshit on a constant basis
[03:55:48] <Foxx-> i mostly keep to myself these days
[04:04:41] <ATravelingGeek> Hmm... anyone have kismet working on the zipit?
[04:04:57] <Foxx-> i dont even have wireless-tools working yet
[04:05:28] <Foxx-> im trying to finish off my Z1 for now
[04:05:55] <unrest> ATravelingGeek, is ther a OE recipe or does it need to be compiled from scratch?
[04:05:58] <Foxx-> that has just been sitting around for a year waiting for me to find the time to get the buildroot working
[04:06:03] <ATravelingGeek> unrest: there's an OE recipie
[04:06:14] <ATravelingGeek> But there's no driver for kismac that I can find
[04:06:17] <ATravelingGeek> s/kismac/kismet/
[04:48:01] <unrest> hehehe
[04:48:35] * unrest found some ACtoUSB charger he didn't need anmore, so he tore it apart and found one fucking nice PCB to (ab)use

[20:41:02] <g1powermac> heh
[20:41:15] <g1powermac> install linux on your mac first :-)
[20:41:34] <crazymonkeypants> Hmm
[20:41:38] <crazymonkeypants> I have a DNS-323
[20:41:45] <crazymonkeypants> Maybe I can put something on that.
[20:41:47] * g1powermac has been living in the past these past few days
[20:41:58] <g1powermac> recently got an ancient mac classic II for like $40
[20:42:10] <g1powermac> planning on installing netbsd on it :-)
[20:42:46] <g1powermac> also setup my ancient apple laserwriter 4/600 and amazingly my mac os 10.4 running intel imac still recognized the thing
[20:42:54] *** g1powermac_PB has quit IRC
[20:43:12] <g1powermac> now I got a laser printer even if it takes three minutes to print a single page ;-)
[20:43:24] <crazymonkeypants> Mmm
[20:43:36] <crazymonkeypants> If I could get a linux/ARM disk image from somewhere...

[20:46:48] <TechCentric-Nick> and a g3 imac for the trash
[20:46:57] <TechCentric-Nick> because i got it in poor condition
[20:47:01] <g1powermac> nice
[20:47:11] <crazymonkeypants> The MBP is my main system and not really available
[20:47:24] <g1powermac> lemme know if you ever want to get rid of the old worlds. . .I like collecting the stuff
[20:47:42] <crazymonkeypants> Ugh
[20:47:47] <g1powermac> though I really could use a better new world, my powerbook is just about shot
[20:47:59] <crazymonkeypants> Why does every article about setting up a Linux machine start with "on your Linux machine, do <blah>"
[20:48:19] <g1powermac> crazymonkeypants, have you tried running linux on a virtual machine on the mbp?
[20:48:40] *** john_ has joined #zipit
[20:49:10] <crazymonkeypants> I haven't; I don't have any VM stuff on here
[20:49:32] <g1powermac> there is an OSS VM app thats based on qemu, it might work for ya
[20:49:37] <g1powermac> http://www.kju-app.org/
[20:50:12] <g1powermac> it actually will run on the G5s too
[20:51:18] <g1powermac> I haven't played much with it myself, as I generally use parallels
[20:51:19] <john_> Good evening. I'm attempting to set up an openembedded build, as described on the wiki, and am getting an error "ERROR: Unable to open conf/bitbake.conf" when I attempt to build the base-image.
[20:53:16] <crazymonkeypants> Interesting
[20:53:23] <crazymonkeypants> Any recommendations on a distro? Debian?
[20:53:39] <g1powermac> thats my favorite
