[11:02:12] <g1powermac> hey all
[11:02:32] <g1powermac> wouldn't it be awesome if somehow we were able to attach this to the z2?

[13:27:38] <g1powermac> GPSFan, have you played with the scratchbox setup for the zipit?
[13:29:44] <g1powermac> I'm pondering how I would compile qt for the z2. . .if scratchbox would come in handy
[13:33:54] <g1powermac> heh, tried to compile qtopia within scratchbox, that failed miserably as I expected ;-)
[13:34:20] <g1powermac> prolly could just tell qtopia to use the compilers that scratchbox has installed now

[14:30:44] *** Rossimo_mobile has joined #zipit
[14:39:26] <GPSFan> g1powermac: no I haven't played with scratchbox at all. mostly for cross dev I use buildroot. I have for arm, MIPS, PPC and x86. I've also used crosstool for arm when I wanted to use glibc.
[14:41:20] <g1powermac> hmm, k
[14:46:59] <g1powermac> do you have a buildroot setup for the zipit?
[14:49:03] <GPSFan> sort of, gotta run out for a while...cul
[14:49:09] <g1powermac> k
[14:53:13] *** Magon has joined #zipit
[15:48:19] *** Rossimo_mobile has quit IRC
[16:58:43] <GPSFan> g1powermac: the most recent version of buildroot I've had success with is svn 21111 sometime around the beginning of March. busybox 1.10, uclibc 0.9.29, binutils 2.18, gcc 4.1.2. I can send you a .config if you like.
[16:59:16] <g1powermac> that would be awesome, g1powermac@yahoo.com
[17:00:43] <g1powermac> now when you use buildroot, do you also use it to make a rootfs or just for its cross-compilation stuff?
[17:03:04] <GPSFan> I have used it to build packages, but in this case all I used it for is to build uclibc, busybox. I'm not sure that this config builds dropbear I have too many instances floating around right now.
[17:04:41] <GPSFan> yeah it does as well as wireless tools, gdb and wavemon (which I added, so it may not work, since I haven't released the modified source.
[17:09:11] <g1powermac> hmm
[17:40:36] *** Rossimo has joined #zipit
[18:07:18] *** Magon has quit IRC
[18:09:24] <g1powermac> Rossimo, so how much experience do you have with scratchbox?
[18:18:56] <Rossimo> some, it's really just my personal use
[18:19:33] <g1powermac> hmm
[18:18:03] <g1powermac> been trying to figure out how to cross compile qtopia with scratchbox
[18:18:50] <Rossimo> is that the dev environment they use initially?
[18:19:47] <g1powermac> no clue
[18:19:12] *** nhoman has joined #zipit
[18:20:00] <Rossimo> well, when i wanted to try anything out before OE, i had to run ./configure, find the libraries it needed, statically compile and install those, and then compile the final program
[18:21:18] <g1powermac> hmm
[18:21:36] <g1powermac> that ain't fun
[18:22:28] <Rossimo> not really
[18:27:26] <g1powermac> sigh, this process has me confused
[18:36:38] <Rossimo> have you tried using OE yet?
[18:39:11] <g1powermac> not yet
[18:39:52] <g1powermac> btw, what kernel is in the OE version?
[18:41:14] <Rossimo> i'm not sure off the top of my head.
[18:41:29] <g1powermac> so its not the kernel thats in zipit?
[18:41:35] <Rossimo> no
[18:41:51] <g1powermac> then how did you guys get the wireless to work?
[18:43:30] <g1powermac> cause I thought the wireless driver was proprietary and it wouldn't work without using the provided kernel in the zipit
[18:44:09] <Rossimo> i'm not entirely sure of how that process works. Magon would be able to answer
[18:44:14] <Rossimo> tbut this may lend some insight

[18:44:18] <Rossimo> but*
[18:44:39] <Rossimo> oh, i guess T0mW originally wrote that
[18:47:49] <g1powermac> yea, I've been waiting to see T0mW to show up
[18:47:54] <g1powermac> I got lots of questions for him
[18:49:28] <g1powermac> I do have some interesting news for all of you
[18:50:00] <g1powermac> I got someone in #edev who is going to take my zipit and xray the thing to figure out the total layout of the board
[18:50:36] <g1powermac> should be able to figure out how it all works
[18:52:05] <Rossimo> cool
[18:54:03] <g1powermac> I also got a batch of the cable connector for the expansion port coming, if anyone wants any, lemme know
[18:54:47] <g1powermac> I bought a batch to avoid digikeys handling fee for orders under $25
[18:55:24] <g1powermac> so $6 a piece should cover
[19:05:48] <Rossimo> can you give me the link for those?
