[09:02:50] <T0mW> GPSFan: hey
[09:03:25] <GPSFan> T0mW: hey, you are back...
[09:04:14] <T0mW> GPSFan: yeah, just got back from Tampa FL Friday morning. Back to the cold
[09:04:09] <GPSFan> you enjoy sunnt Fla?
[09:04:27] <T0mW> YES!
[09:04:33] <T0mW> heh
[09:04:32] <T0mW> It was high-60s, low-70s while I was there. It was nice to go somewhere where it wasn't cold, rainy, snowy for a while
[09:06:02] <T0mW> I had to cut the trip short a few days due to the rain. I was going to come back on Sunday, but the weather report showed that it would be raining over this weekend and I didn't want to drive back in that.
[09:07:19] <GPSFan> T0mW: did you ever find out if you could get your bricked Z2 unbricked by Zipit?
[09:08:04] <T0mW> GPSFan: I had my catalytic converter fail on the Gran Prix on my way up to Jacksonville. This was on a Sunday, of course, the next morning the Pontiac dealer got it right in a I was back on the road by 11AM
[09:08:39] <T0mW> GPSFan: they offered a replacement, not a repair
[09:09:38] <GPSFan> well, prp said he could do an x-ray of the board so you wouldn't have to wipe all the parts off.
[09:08:22] <T0mW> I've got some work to do in preparation for a meeting on Tuesday. so, no Z2 work for a while for me.
[09:09:07] <T0mW> I'm wondering if anyone got X working on the Z2 with mouse / cursor control while I was gone?
[09:09:09] <GPSFan> yeah, with a week or two of fun, work will have to raise it's ugly head sooner or later. ;>)
[09:09:34] <T0mW> GPSFan: two customers with big jobs.
[09:09:41] <GPSFan> I believe there has been some progress.
[09:09:47] <T0mW> good
[09:09:43] <GPSFan> but OE still is a major issue.
[09:09:58] <T0mW> I made sure that the Z2 and SD card reader *did not* find its way into my suitcase
[09:11:41] <GPSFan> I found my gdb issue. there was a timer causing an interrupt every 100ms, and causing all sorts of havoc.
[09:12:16] <T0mW> GPSFan: I drove all day Wednesday, 14 hours, down to Savannah GA. Then the next day into Tampa, that night, I was moving code around in my sleep, cutting and pasting stuff.
[09:13:10] <T0mW> I really needed a break
[09:13:19] <GPSFan> indeed.
[09:14:19] <T0mW> Well, I am going in my direction with OE. I have a working gpe image, but no mouse control. I have an OE recipe that gives me a bootable linux, that is what I am building up into a working gpe image (X-kdrive).
[09:16:55] <T0mW> The issues that I have with that gpe is one of package versions. A lot of it builds, but some fail. That stupid eabi crap is what is stumping me. Angstrom assumes that the target devices will be using eabi, not oabi. There is one place you are supposed to be able to set / unset the eabi ability, but, it doesn't work.
[09:17:54] <T0mW> As I have discovered, there is a lot of the eabi crap sprinkled into the images / tasks recipies as well and seems to be related to the machine name.
[09:18:50] <T0mW> I can build stuff but they won't run / boot.
[09:19:17] <GPSFan> I'm going in my own direction too, I have a buildroot system that works fairly well. I'm looking into the gpios trying to figure out how they are all set up and what they do. I'd be interested in any info on battery charging and backlight control.
[09:19:32] <T0mW> when I get back to it, I will look into it again.
[09:18:54] <T0mW> roxfan has my bricked unit, he was going to take it apart and see if he could buzz out some of the electronics
[09:19:06] <GPSFan> I have a modified version of my modified Z1 wavemon running as a wifi monitor & ap scanner looks nice in color...
[09:19:24] <T0mW> heh
[09:19:33] <T0mW> color is a good thing
[09:19:53] <T0mW> I'm just doodling on the computer today trying to work up the energy to do some thing useful.
[09:20:03] <T0mW> still tired from all that driving
[09:20:20] <GPSFan> cloudy here today, just finishing breakfast.
[09:20:32] <T0mW> 3000 miles in the past 9 days
[09:20:56] <T0mW> yeah, plenty of rain here. Too much of it
[09:21:49] <T0mW> I see that 17 meters has had some small band openings lately.
[09:23:58] <GPSFan> I haven't been on the air in ages. my HF receiver is in pieces in the garage. needs a good cleaning & alignment.
[09:24:07] <T0mW> maybe I will just get out a paperback that I've been reading and do that today.
[09:24:22] <T0mW> GPSFan: what do you have?
[09:23:45] <T0mW> I have a Kenwood TS850 that needs to go into the shop for a cleaning and alignment. Still need to find someone that does that work.
[09:24:23] <T0mW> I would like to get that radio back on the air. It has been sitting idle for about 6 years
[09:25:45] <T0mW> At least I have the 857 in the mobile along with the Tarheel-2 HF antenna setup. I will just have to take more roadtrips this year.
[09:27:37] <GPSFan> well, for vhf/uhf I have a Yeasu ft726r and various 2m & 220 handhelds. for HF I have a R-392 receiver and a seirra wireless 128A. and some psk31 homebrew stuff.
[09:28:31] <T0mW> GPSFan: had to think about that one for a while, did you? heh
[09:29:22] <GPSFan> multi-tasking, sometimes some processes have to wait.
[09:29:41] <T0mW> I have some HTs around here that I don't recall what they are. I think one is a Yeasu and the other an Icom, but I don't do anything above 54MHz in years.
[09:28:54] <T0mW> GPSFan: ok, I'll see you later. I think that book is the best bet for today, get my energy level back up before I play with computers.
[09:29:01] <GPSFan> cul...
[09:29:18] <T0mW> good to be back in my own bed thought
[09:29:26] <T0mW> s/thought/though/
