[17:53:49] <mi_dave> drmikecrowe: ping
[17:54:34] <drmikecrowe> mi_dave: howdy
[17:58:31] <mi_dave> hello sir. i was hoping you could help with some questions about the Z2. maybe these questions have been asked before but i haven't found any answers in the irc logs.
[17:59:00] <drmikecrowe> shoot (and please don't call me sir... :D )
[17:59:33] *** Magon has quit IRC
[17:59:46] <mi_dave> sorry... i've been working with my co-worker (bryank - a linux guru). we have a z2 running the latest R52 from the SVN (with some fixes so it would build).
[18:09:59] *** SB-Zipit has joined #zipit
[18:12:21] <mi_dave> Sorry to ask so many questions first time talking... it is good to hear this stuff is on the radar anyhow
[18:12:57] <drmikecrowe> np at all. I'm multi-tasking to get stuff to the community as fast as possible.
[18:13:54] <mi_dave> thank you for that. so far I'm pretty impressed with the Z2. it certainly is a cool device
[18:14:06] <drmikecrowe> I love it. We're working hard to take it even farther very soon.
[18:14:37] *** SB-Zipit` has joined #zipit
[18:14:40] *** SB-Zipit has quit IRC
[18:14:41] <mi_dave> not to pry too much... but on the same platform with expansion type stuff or application wise?
[18:14:45] <drmikecrowe> application-wise
[18:14:51] <mi_dave> Thanks for your time. Have a great dinner.
[18:14:56] <drmikecrowe> np -- btw, where are you guys located/
[18:14:56] <drmikecrowe> ?
[18:15:01] <mi_dave> Michigan
[18:17:32] *** SB-Zipit` is now known as SB-Zipit
[18:17:47] <drmikecrowe> cool -- I'll catch u later.

[20:38:07] *** bryank has joined #zipit
[20:38:47] <bryank> well, i appear to have gotten xserver-kdrive to work rotated
[20:38:57] <bryank> the key was "-screen 240x320@90"
[20:39:06] <bryank> mi_dave: the test python stuff i had is working too, mostly
[20:39:09] <bryank> (only missing thing is the mouse)
[20:42:32] <mi_dave> so you've got an x-server driving the local screen?
[20:42:55] <bryank> yep, and local keyboard
[20:43:00] <mi_dave> sweet
[20:43:06] <bryank> but the only client is the python program; no xterm or anything like that is installed (yet)
[20:43:24] <mi_dave> so you have a UI you wrote in python displaying?
[20:43:36] <bryank> yep
[20:43:59] <mi_dave> sweet again. check the irc logs from earlier tonight (if you haven't already) to see drmikecrowe's responses
[20:44:23] <bryank> yeah, i saw some of that, though it didn't make a ton of sense; oh well
[20:44:46] <drmikecrowe> bryank: awesome! Would you like to contribute this to the svn somewhere? Or add to the wiki? We'd really appreciate the help.
[20:45:01] <bryank> sure; let me go register on the website and i'll stuff it into svn somewhere
[20:47:57] <mi_dave> welcome back drmike
[20:48:38] <drmikecrowe> :D
[20:48:57] <drmikecrowe> bryank: just pick a place. I've chosen to make svn open to all who register, so I'm giving the community control of everything.
[20:49:15] <mi_dave> I think bryank lives, eats, and breaths linux. he's only had the Z2 a couple of nights and has gotten quite a bit running on it already.
[20:49:52] <drmikecrowe> awesome. does he want a job???? ;)
[20:49:54] <drmikecrowe> lol
[20:49:57] <bryank> job -- not at the moment. ;-)
[20:52:22] <bryank> but regarding linux -- it helps that i've been running LFS for so long
[20:52:31] <mi_dave> he works in a micro$oft with me. I'd have to protest
[20:52:39] <mi_dave> micro$oft house that is
[20:58:03] <mi_dave> bryank: do you still have the stuff you changed on the OE R52?
[20:58:24] <bryank> yeah -- i'm trying to put a patch together that will make the two changes i needed
[21:09:18] <mi_dave> does the x-server display a mouse pointer you can't control or do you have an option to skip it?
[21:09:28] <bryank> it has an option to turn it off (otherwise a usb mouse might be an interesting idea too)
[21:12:14] <mi_dave> drmikecrowe: does zipit have a usb cable already available for the Z2? I saw a listing on eBay where the seller was including a usb cable and wondered where he got it.
[21:14:32] <drmikecrowe> mi_dave: not sure. We are bringing USB out the back connector (IIRC), but nowhere else
[21:28:39] <mi_dave> looks like the expansion usb is intended to be a usb client (no usb power out)
[21:29:57] <bryank> hmm; looks like openembedded has changed the gcc build to fix the issue i was seeing; scratch one patch
[21:32:23] <bryank> (of course now i have to wait for it to pull again...)
[21:59:37] <bryank> and they fixed glibc too, i think -- at least, they added the patch i used; have to build it to know for sure...
[22:09:10] <mi_dave> bryank: see you tomorrow. it will be interesting to see the x-server stuff
[22:09:35] <bryank> yeah; i'll get it all checked into svn eventually... want to make sure it still works first
[22:09:36] <bryank> see you
