[05:54:16] <Magon> it seem like i have working angstrom minimal image
[09:21:59] <Magon> i have working base image...i will try to merge my changes to upstream OE
[09:30:49] *** GPSFan has joined #zipit
[09:33:14] <Magon> GPSFan: hi..i have managed to build working base-image
[09:33:37] <GPSFan> Magon: hey, that's great,
[09:33:47] <Magon> btw: how big is mem in Z2?
[09:33:53] <Magon> i have in mind flash
[09:39:41] <GPSFan> Magon: I think it's 32M ram and I forgot how big the flash is.
[09:40:26] <Magon> ok..i will set flash size to 16 so angstrom doesnt build locales
[09:41:15] <GPSFan> 8M I think, dmesg says 16 partitions of 512k each.
[09:41:24] <Magon> ok

[10:23:10] <magon> Crofton: are you around?
[11:04:34] <magon> seems like push something to OE is crazy

[12:37:40] *** magon_ is now known as magon
[14:37:45] <nhoman> magon: hey magon... you got past the glibc problem?
[14:46:30] <magon> nhoman: i have working build
[14:46:36] <magon> you probably want my enviroment
[14:46:39] <Rossimo> how did the flash go?
[14:47:01] <magon> i have working OE..but hadnt time to do some actual work..i was fighting OE
[14:47:16] <nhoman> congratulations... i will give it a go yes if you want to share the config...
[14:47:30] <magon> i will commit it to SVN in few minutes
[14:47:42] <nhoman> are the changes you are pushing to OE the same as what you shared last night? ie to angstrom2008.bb (or whatever)
[14:47:56] <nhoman> magon: great
[14:49:05] <magon> nhoman: try svn up
[14:49:06] <magon> and see http://bugs.openembedded.net/show_bug.cgi?id=3803
[14:49:43] <nhoman> magon: yeah read that earlier today
[14:56:28] <Rossimo> so, what exactly does this mean? the OE kernel is able to run on the Z2 now?
[14:56:47] <nhoman> Rossimo: no... it means we are now using angstrom
[14:56:57] <magon> Rossimo: no..kernel wasnt in question at all
[14:57:01] <nhoman> although maybe if we could flash without risk...
[14:57:05] <Rossimo> what exactly is angstrom?
[14:57:24] <nhoman> http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/
[14:57:43] <nhoman> (not being rude - just eating dinner!)
[14:58:13] <Rossimo> oh, np.
[14:58:23] <Rossimo> reading it now. i was just a bit confused over exactly what was going on.
[15:29:56] <nhoman> magon: thx for svn changes.
[15:35:18] <magon> nhoman: np..just give me feedback if it works
[15:35:40] <nhoman> magon: why change the root flash size... we dont install to flash? anyway ill give it a go
[15:35:49] <magon> nhoman: because it will not generate locales :-)
[15:35:56] <magon> angstrom build locales for 16> flash
[15:35:56] <nhoman> magon: ok
[15:35:59] <magon> that is just trick i made
[15:36:04] <nhoman> magon: understood...
[15:36:30] <magon> for now be just english only

[16:22:33] <magon> nhoman: is it working?
[16:22:41] <nhoman> magon: base-image fails at glibc
[16:22:45] <nhoman> have i forgotten something
[16:22:48] <magon> with my setting?
[16:22:50] <nhoman> yes
[16:22:52] <nhoman> from svn
[16:22:53] <magon> have you patched OE?
[16:23:09] <nhoman> magon: i made the changes last night is there something else i need to do?
[16:23:09] <magon> glibc fails even building?
[16:23:17] <magon> i have posted bug here
[16:23:21] <magon> try to clean OE from patches and do this ones
[16:23:31] <magon> there are linux headers and linux kernel included
[16:23:46] <magon> also i changed a bit the patches from yesterday and it should add machine(but this one you probably have)
[16:33:32] <nhoman> magon: looking at http://72.233.35.82/attachment.cgi?id=5384
[16:34:01] <nhoman> magon: are these not in the svn repo?
[16:34:36] <magon> this patch is OE patch
[16:34:45] <magon> you need to apply it to org.openembedded.dev
[16:39:55] <magon> and i have deleted few files from overlay...those which are in OE by this patch
[16:40:15] <magon> but i will take a while to apply it to upstream OE
[16:41:53] <magon> i builded glibc just fine
[16:44:45] <bryank> I'm getting a warning after a clean svn co of the zipitwireless OE tree when running bitbake,
[16:44:52] <bryank> before it says "handling BitBake files", it complains that zipit2-packages/*/*.bb doesn't exist
[16:44:59] <bryank> I think it's because zipitZ2BBfiles might need to move to zipit2-packages in the svn tree?
[16:50:38] <bryank> if i create a symlink, it works fine
[16:50:39] <nhoman> bryank: yes
[16:51:21] <bryank> ok -- should be as easy as "svn mv zipitZ2BBfiles zipit2-packages" and then a commit, if that's doable
[16:51:29] <bryank> (or stuff a symlink in svn, that works too)
[16:51:31] <nhoman> that's what i done
[16:51:34] <magon> bryank: yes..i forgot about that symlink..i have it
[16:51:51] <magon> so everyone simply made symlink ;-)
[16:51:54] <bryank> :-)
[16:52:09] <magon> but in order to get svn r52 working you need OE patch
[16:52:16] <bryank> yep, got that, it's building now
[16:53:33] <bryank> the changes in r52 also mean that some of build/README is out of date; I can put a patch on pastebin if it'd help
[17:01:29] <magon> bryank: do you have account at linux.zipitwireless.com?
[17:01:52] <bryank> magon: not yet, i haven't decided on the dpa yet
[17:01:54] <bryank> i also don't have any z2 hardware yet ;-)
[17:02:06] <magon> because having account means having SVN write access
[17:02:31] <bryank> yeah, but i'll probably wait for the hardware at least
[17:02:49] <magon> ok
[17:02:56] <bryank> anyway: pastebin of the diff: http://zipit.pastebin.com/d49e9c04c
[17:02:58] <bryank> good for a day
[17:04:40] <magon> bryank: how to apply svn diff ?
[17:04:53] <magon> i am probably just tired
[17:09:59] <bryank> magon: not exactly sure; i figured plain patch would handle it?
[17:10:33] <magon> probably
[17:10:38] <bryank> if not, remove the Index line and the line with all the ===='s on it, and it will
[17:10:49] <magon> ok
[17:11:25] <magon> i will do it by hand probably...that is simpliest
[17:12:05] <magon> problem is that with the OE patch you dont even need machine symlink..it is in my OE patch
[17:14:11] <bryank> pretty much, yeah
[17:21:27] <magon> gn

[20:50:48] <bryank> nhoman: was your glibc-intermediate error something with RTLD_SINGLE_THREAD_P?
[20:50:52] <bryank> (see log.do_compile.* in tmp-*/work/arm-oabi-angstrom-linux/glibc-inter*/temp)
[20:50:57] <bryank> because if so, I see the same thing, and I've found a patch to fix it:
[20:50:59] <bryank> http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-ports/2007-05/msg00051.html
[20:51:01] <bryank> which does seem to work.
[20:52:43] <mi_dave> bryank: did you get my ping or have i not figured out this irc client?
[20:53:00] <bryank> doesn't look like i got it... unless i haven't figured out *this* irc client
[20:53:16] <mi_dave> oh well, sounds like you've been doing some building
[20:53:31] <bryank> a bit -- now it's dying on gcc-cross, but (i hope) i've almost got that figured out too
[20:54:06] <mi_dave> which part(s) are you building?
[20:54:27] <bryank> svn r52 (zipit2 machine, angstrom distro)
[21:00:36] <mi_dave> looks like i'll be doing warranty replacement on this Z2. the second one will hopefully be here in a day or so
[21:01:05] <bryank> that's the one that bricked itself?
[21:01:59] <mi_dave> i'd ask drmikecrowe about the update failure but he's not today. yeah, i walked away when it said updating bootloader and that was the last i saw it alive
[21:03:31] <mi_dave> i'll bring it in tomorrow but it makes a better paperweight at the moment (or a flashlight if you plug the battery in)
[21:11:55] <bryank> heh :-)
[21:11:58] <bryank> well, let's see if that fixed gcc...
[21:12:04] <bryank> ... no, dangit
[21:33:02] <bryank> good; that fixed it
[21:33:05] <bryank> the error was that __floatundisf and __floatundidf were duplicated;
[21:33:12] <bryank> the fix was to edit org.openembedded.dev/packages/gcc/gcc-4.2.2/arm-thumb.patch,
[21:33:20] <bryank> and add "_floatundisf _floatundidf" to the end of LIB1ASMFUNCS
[21:33:30] <bryank> then delete the gcc tree and re-download, re-extract, re-configure, re-compile
[21:41:56] <bryank> oh, and delete the gcc-cross-* files in the stamps/arm*/ directory too
[21:41:59] <bryank> or just change the patch file before you start building anything, that's easier
[21:42:05] <bryank> i just hope there isn't any other reason i'm seeing these issues...
[22:20:12] <mi_dave> bryank: still building?
[22:20:47] <bryank> mi_dave: yep, it's just getting done with openssh; around task 1000 of 1600-some
[22:20:50] <bryank> i think i'll let it go overnight
[22:21:16] <mi_dave> how many hours to get this far?
[22:21:41] <bryank> of build time, probably 2-3; of real time (counting breaks), probably 3-5
[22:22:07] <bryank> but i'm going to sleep. hope nothing else breaks...
