[12:01:29] <drmikecrowe> Crofton: No, for the zipit release I'm working on here
[12:01:57] <Crofton> are you trying to use angstrom 2007?
[12:02:42] <drmikecrowe> I took the angstrom 2007 distro file as a base, yes, but I stripped it down
[12:02:45] <Crofton> heh
[12:02:46] <Crofton> why?
[12:02:53] <Crofton> distro proliferation is not a good thing ...
[12:02:57] <drmikecrowe> I wanted to get a very small config that built, then start adding more items as I tested
[12:03:02] <drmikecrowe> So you suggest go with angstrom completely ?
[12:03:04] <Crofton> yeah
[12:03:07] <Crofton> it is easier for us
[12:03:14] <Crofton> peek at the gumstix stuff for some ideas on how to use it
[12:03:15] <drmikecrowe> ok, I wanted to avoid having too much in the system initially. I'll go back and do that
[12:03:15] <drmikecrowe> k
[12:03:17] <Crofton> they make small images
[12:03:20] <drmikecrowe> (I have that loaded, but haven't reviewed yet)
[12:03:20] <Crofton> I need to go to lunch now
[12:03:24] <Crofton> but I would be glad to answer what wquestions I can
[12:03:25] <drmikecrowe> np, thanks
[12:53:37] <drmikecrowe> hey Crofton, LMK when you get back
[14:01:14] <Crofton> drmikecrowe, back
[14:01:18] <drmikecrowe> wb!
[14:01:44] <drmikecrowe> Question for you: currently, our kernel is 2.6.22. Looks like Angstrom 2008.1 is 2.6.21. Not sure that it matters much, but part of the reason I was going custom was to try and match kernel versions
[14:02:17] <drmikecrowe> Think that's a big problem?
[14:02:54] <Crofton> you set the kernel in the machine file
[14:03:01] <Crofton> distro does not set kernel version
[14:03:15] <drmikecrowe> distro/angstrom 2008 has PREFERRED_VERSION_linux-handhelds-2.6 ?= "2.6.21-hh20"
[14:03:30] <Crofton> That will set the prefered version for machine using the linux-handhelds kernel
[14:03:36] <Crofton> I would guess you use linux-zipit, or maybe linux.inc methoed
[14:04:00] <drmikecrowe> ok. I'm going to experiment some more and try to understand this better
[14:04:33] <Crofton> just because something is in sane-src... does not mean you will build it
[14:21:24] <Rossimo> drmikecrowe: how exactly does the Z2 sound system work?
[14:21:38] <drmikecrowe> I'm trying to get a source code example of how we are using it.
[15:03:45] <Rossimo> mplayer is slow

[17:43:27] <Rossimo> drmikecrowe: i'm getting lots of errors while visiting the trac site
[17:43:52] <Rossimo> http://zipit.pastebin.com/m685b3786
[17:43:58] *** Magon has quit IRC
[17:44:07] <drmikecrowe> looking...
[17:44:23] <drmikecrowe> crap -- a security upgrade broke the python svn bindings
[17:44:42] <Rossimo> sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't
[17:53:25] <Rossimo> also, i'm hitting the attachment size limit
[18:22:23] *** drmikecrowe has quit IRC
[18:22:52] <Rossimo> anyone using KDE4 yet?
[18:23:01] <Rossimo> i've tried it. sorta nice, kinda buggy for me
[18:48:11] <Rossimo> ethicalclone: is there a chance you'll be releasing the source code to the modules in z2script-new.zip?
[18:58:42] <ethicalclone> Rossimo: The patches are in the zipit2 openembedded svn, but I can send them to you if needed.
[18:58:57] <Rossimo> ah
[21:14:37] *** drmikecrowe has joined #zipit
[21:31:39] *** FireEgl has quit IRC
[23:08:30] <drmikecrowe> Rossimo: What size limit do you need and in what project?
[23:14:45] <Rossimo> 25 megs in mplayer, and 10 megs in doom
[23:16:07] <drmikecrowe> Do you want to put it in the main project?
[23:26:42] <Rossimo> sure
[23:27:25] <drmikecrowe> ok -- I'll try to get this done first thing tomorrow
[23:28:19] *** GPSFan has quit IRC
[23:29:04] <drmikecrowe> Rossimo: You know if ethicalclone compiled anything with shared libraries, or all with libraries built in?
[23:29:19] <Rossimo> idk
[23:29:38] <ethicalclone> For the OE stuff or the z2script stuff?
[23:29:38] <drmikecrowe> k
[23:29:49] <drmikecrowe> z2script was my initial question -- have you posted any OE stuff yet?
[23:34:23] <drmikecrowe> Rossimo: max size is 2M now. How big do you need it?
[23:34:53] <Rossimo> 25M, but if that's too big, i can host it somewhere else
[23:35:31] <Rossimo> you can see the doom and mplayer pages where i've linked them
[23:35:37] <drmikecrowe> np with the size, I just needed a number
[23:35:49] <ethicalclone> the z2script files were static with uclibc, I have not posted any OE stuff, but most the changed I made are checked into svn
[23:36:19] <drmikecrowe> Rossimo:apache is restarting -- 30M limit now
[23:36:21] <Rossimo> ok, thanks
[23:36:41] <drmikecrowe> ethicalclone: you mentioned having a way to mount the ext systems? don't we need that for the shared libraries?
[23:38:57] <ethicalclone> I have been playing with switch_root to start the init on an OE image on a SD card
[23:46:04] <drmikecrowe> ethicalclone: one more: I just finished compiling lua, and want to give it shot.
[23:46:13] <drmikecrowe> I'm a higher-level guy, so understanding setting this up is a little vague
[23:46:22] <drmikecrowe> Can I hack your z2script files and use it? I don't think so, right?
[23:46:40] <drmikecrowe> I put the lua executable in the /mnt/sd0 dir, and can seem to pull it up
[23:47:23] <ethicalclone> Do whatever your want with the z2script files, its all gpl stuff
[23:48:04] <drmikecrowe> no, I'm trying to understand what I need to do to test some OE stuff. If I try to execute the lua I built in the sh from your z2script.sh, I don't get anything.
[23:57:40] <ethicalclone> Getting an OE root would make things easier, I'll post my WIP version
[23:58:35] <drmikecrowe> great, thanks
[23:58:42] <drmikecrowe> BTW, what area of the US are you located?
[23:59:12] <ethicalclone> Milwaukee area
