Documenting the Current Draw of the ZipIt? Z2 on the AC Adapter:

Tests were conducted using a Seasonic Power Angel, an inline current tester (you plug the Power Angel into the wall and plug the load into the Power Angel). These tests were conducted to estimate current requirements from alternate power sources (solar cells, 12v car adapters, etc). Previous tests on the AC adapter with a multimeter showed that it produces 5.1v, 2.0a without the ZipIt? connected. The Power Angel is not an expensive metering device, these tests should be regarded as approximations. The testing unit is a ZipIt? Z2 running XWindows in jagsph's userland [ ZipIt?.RootNexus?.org ].

Load: WiFi? connected, Links2 browser window open; Quake 1 running in demo mode; mplayer playing an Ogg-Vorbis video. CPU pegged and mouse sluggish.

Test 1: AC adapter plugged in; battery at approximately 60% - Max amp draw from wall socket 0.07amps, 05VA

Test 2: AC adapter plugged in; battery disconnected - Max amp draw from wall socket 0.06amps, 05VA

I'm not sure of the relationship between amps drawn at the wall socket and the amps required at the DC end of the adapter. I'd invite a response on the forum from someone more versed in electronics.
